The First Crochet Class
Introduction to Crochet - Level 1

Who is this Class for?

Someone with no crochet experience.

How long is the Class?

The average beginner learns this material in 2 hours. You may learn faster or slower.

What will you learn?

In this hands-on class, you will be introduced to these stitches.

  • Chain
  • Single Crochet
  • Double Crochet
  • If time permits, Half Double Crochet (and no, in this context, half of a double is NOT a single!)

What do you need to bring?

  • a ball of worsted weight yarn in a light, bright colour and smooth texture
  • a crochet hook, either a 4 mm (size G) or 5 mm (size H).
  • a needle and stitch gauge (useful for future projects)
  • a yarn needle or darning needle (useful for future projects)
These may be purchased at stores such as Michael's, Zellers, WalMart, or specialty knitting/crocheting shops.

If you are unable to get these supplies, do not worry - you may use the school's supplies.
