CROCHET IS SO EASY TO LEARN

Why should you learn to crochet?

When you know how to crochet, you can have:

  • A feeling of accomplishment
  • Something warm to wear for yourself or a lucky friend who receives your gift
  • Or even something HOT or COOL - there is a lot of crochet in the current fashion scene
  • A way to keep your hands busy. You will keep them out of the snack bowl to keep the yarn clean.
  • Stress relief: crochet is a very calming activity. (well, ok, some complicated patterns could negate this benefit!) See this article for some more information.
  • A way to do something productive when you have some waiting time:
    • waiting for your dentist appointment
    • waiting at your child’s hockey game
    • waiting for your chauffeur to get to your destination (it also helps you to ignore your spouse’s driving habits and makes your marriage last longer!).

Crochet is back in fashion. And it is not your grandmother's crochet! There are some really funky patterns out there. Here is an interesting squiggle scarf.

How easy is it?

Crochet is easy to learn. There are only three building blocks in learning to crochet. There are many different stitch patterns in the crochet world, and they are all variants of the following three stitches.

  • Chain
  • Single Crochet
  • Double Crochet

At a Learn to Crochet Workshop, you can learn the three building blocks, the three basic stitches, in about 2 hours. With this knowledge, you can create some simple projects. The teacher will provide you with some patterns that use just these three basic stitches. Here is one example, a basic dishcloth or hot mat or afghan square made with just Chains and Double Crochets:

Are you left-handed or right-handed?

If you are right-handed, no problem, because the instructor is right-handed, too.

But if you are left-handed:

Have you had to cope with instructors who can only teach you to do something right-handed? Are you envious that Paul McCartney can play left-handed on a real left-handed guitar, instead of being forced to play right-handed?
The Crocus Needle Arts School instructor is able to crochet both left-handed and right-handed. Admittedly, she is a bit slower going left-handed, but that will probably help a left-handed person to learn it easier!

Where else can you get both right and left handed instruction? Contact the Crocus Needle Arts School to register for the next workshop.

Do you want to learn at your own pace?

Have you ever taken a course where the instructor went too fast or too slow for you? That will not happen at the Crocus Needle Arts School, due to small classes and instructor flexibility.

  • There are no more than 5 students per class, so the teacher can provide you with the appropriate level of instruction for you.
  • If you need some extra time, you have it, even if the class ends up being more than two hours long for you.
  • If you are progressing faster than others in the class, the teacher can provide you with an additional bit of instruction that leverages what you have learned, so that you can walk out of the class with extra knowledge, and you will not be wasting your time.

Where else can you get such personalized instruction? Contact the Crocus Needle Arts School to register for the next workshop.

Do you want a good teacher?

Have you ever taken a course where the instructor was just barely knowledgeable about either the subject or how to teach? The Crocus Needle Arts School instructor:

  • has been crocheting for over 50 years,
  • has been teaching it since 2005,
  • and is a Certified Crochet Instructor, having successfully completed the Craft Yarn Council of America Crochet Teacher Training course. One cannot get the certification without proven experience in both crocheting and teaching crochet.

To take crochet lessons from someone who really knows the subject and how to teach it, contact the Crocus Needle Arts School.

Do you want a confirmed class date/time?

Have you ever registered for a class that was cancelled because not enough students pre-registered? A Crocus Needle Arts School crochet class will be held if even one student pre-registers and attends.

If you have arranged your personal schedule to be able to take the class, you deserve to be able to take it.
To register for a class that will be held no matter how many students will be there, contact this school.

Do you want to protect your privacy?

Have you ever had to provide your credit card number and pre-pay for a course? Are you concerned about that loss of privacy? At Crocus Needle Arts School, all you need to do is phone or e-mail to pre-register. You can pay (cash or cheque) when you arrive. We trust you.

It is so simple to pre-register. It just takes one phone call or e-mail. Contact us now.

What about after you have learned the basics?

What if you want to learn more? The Crocus Needle Arts School also offers a 2-hour workshop teaching the next steps in crochet: how to read patterns, how to do some fancy stitches, and how to sew crocheted pieces together.

Even if you need help with each line in the pattern, you can still ask the instructor for assistance, and it will not cost you a cent!

And you do not have to travel to get this assistance. Your paid attendance at the beginner crochet workshop includes the help.

You will not be left to struggle alone with crochet problems. Register for a crochet workshop now.
